Annual Brunch at Tanque Verde Ranch - May
15th, 2010
It was High Noon,
on May 15th when 27 members of the Chaparral Section and 2
guest--Bud Cloninger and his wife from the Phoenix Desert
Star--met at the old Tanque Verde Ranch for brunch. The Tanque
Verde Ranch has been in operation since 1868 and has over
60,000 acres (the largest dude ranch in the USA) as well as
the best Brunch in Tucson. The camaraderie, food and prizes
were great fun. The line up of Mercedes was impressive.
President Mike Zonnefeld highlighted for the attendees the
many upcoming events scheduled for the remainder of 2010. Included in our line up is: the
continuing commitment to support local charities, a meeting at
the Pima Air Museum, support of the Rotary Club, a joint event
with the Desert Stars and attendance at the Tohono O'Odam
Cultural Center. The second year of the revitalized Club has
more and more events and interesting activities for our
members and guest.

Annual Casual Classic Car Show - April
17, 2010 Davis - Mothan AFB, Tucson,
AZ.
The Chaparral Section continues our
commitment to the community and local charities in 2010
with a commitment to the active service men and women
and their families at Davis Mothan AFB in Tucson AZ.
Fourteen Mercedes-Benz and Chaparral members turned out
in support of DM-50, a local charity committed to
helping active duty service men and women and their
families by sponsoring a fun filled day on
the Base. DH-50 hosted their 2nd annual picnic
to show appreciation to the US Air Force and Davis
Monthan AFB. Included in the festivities is the Annual
Casual Classic Car Show sponsored by the Porsche Club. This
event was a FUN event with no rigid rules and only one
special class; a special class just for Airmen to show
off their classic cars. A wonderful BBQ, games for the
kids and demonstrations by various sections of the AFB
personnel made this event a very special day for all
attendees and a different and patriotic opportunity for
car
enthusiast. | |

Mercedes-Benz is a German
manufacturer of luxury automobiles, buses, coaches, and trucks. It
is currently a division of the parent company, Daimler AG (formerly
DaimlerChrysler AG), after previously being owned by Daimler-Benz.
Mercedes-Benz has its origins in Karl Benz's creation of the first
petrol-powered motorcycle in January 1886,and by Gottlieb Daimler
and engineer Wilhelm Maybach's conversion of a 1873 Bollée
steam-engine automobile by the addition of a petrol engine the same
year. The Mercedes automobile was first marketed in 1901 by Daimler
Motoren Gesellschaft. The first Mercedes-Benz brand name vehicles
were produced in 1926, following the merger of Karl Benz's and
Gottlieb Daimler's companies into the Daimler-Benz
company.Mercedes-Benz has introduced many technological and safety
innovations that have become common in other vehicles several years
later. 1886 - 2010 photos.......
